Māori Innovation and Technology Delegations Planned for Northland in 2027

According to reporting by Te Ao Māori News on Thursday, 10 September 2026, the inaugural delegation in this series will specifically focus on Māori communities in Northland. The initiative follows a recent visit to Israel by a delegation of Māori leaders, which included Northland Regional Council chair Pita Tipene. That visit was described to prospective participants as a business and innovation focused mission. Riki Manarangi, who participated in a previous delegation in November 2025, noted that such exchanges are designed to explore opportunities in the business and technology sectors. While the recent visit has faced public scrutiny regarding its funding and itinerary during a time of international conflict, the Israeli Embassy stated that such delegations allow visitors to see the country for themselves and engage with a wide variety of people, including Jewish, Arab, Druze, and Bedouin Israelis. The Embassy described the environment as one where visitors are free to ask questions and form their own conclusions about the regional landscape.
