The Mātaatua region is preparing to celebrate the next generation of Māori performing arts as the Delamere Cup returns on 25 and 26 September. The kapa haka competition, which caters to primary and intermediate schools, is scheduled to take place at Te Kura o Te Whānau-a-Apanui in Te Kaha. Organisers have confirmed that 25 groups will take to the stage this year, reflecting the strong commitment to te ao haka within regional kura. The 2026 event marks a significant milestone for Te Kuratahi o Waiotahe, who will be making their debut appearance at the competition.
