All Whites to host India for historic two-match series in Auckland and Christchurch

Football fans in Aotearoa have a major international series to look forward to this spring, with the All Whites scheduled to host India for two matches in November. The announcement, made by Sport Minister Mark Mitchell on Saturday, 11 July 2026, coincides with a diplomatic visit from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The series forms a central part of the '100 Years of Unity Through Sport' initiative, which celebrates the long-standing sporting relationship between New Zealand and India. The fixtures are set for Auckland and Christchurch later this year. The opening match will take place at Mt Smart Stadium on Thursday, 12 November, followed by a historic clash at Christchurch’s brand-new Te Kaha Stadium on Sunday, 15 November. NZ Football chief executive Andrew Pragnell noted that bringing the All Whites back to Christchurch was an absolute priority following the opening of the new venue. He highlighted the city’s rich footballing history, which has produced legends such as Steve Sumner and Ryan Nelsen, alongside current stars like Joe Bell, Finn Surman, and Kate Taylor. All Whites head coach Darren Bazeley described the upcoming home games as a significant opportunity to build on the momentum from the recent FIFA World Cup in North America. Bazeley expressed his excitement at bringing the squad back to play in front of local crowds after their efforts on the world stage. The series will serve as the final fixtures of the 2026 calendar year for the national side. The football matches are part of a broader sporting accord that also includes a comprehensive tour by the Indian men's cricket team. According to RNZ, tickets for the football internationals will be available for general sale starting 22 July, following initial pre-sale promotions.
